Decaffeinated
Without caffeine. With everything else. Anyone who thinks of compromise when it comes to decaffeinated coffee simply hasn't had a good one yet. Our decaf coffee is decaffeinated on a plant-based basis at its origin in Colombia. This preserves the delicate aromas – for full flavor, completely without caffeine.
We love our Decaf and are confident that you will too. That's why we offer a money-back guarantee if you're not satisfied. Pretty alrighty, right?
Crash Course: What Exactly Is Caffeine?
Caffeine is a natural substance found in coffee beans and is probably the best-known ingredient in coffee.
Contrary to popular belief, caffeine, as a bitter substance, has almost no influence on the taste profile of coffee - the beloved bitter coffee aroma is primarily created by roasting the beans.
Caffeine is a natural
energy kick: It increases alertness and concentration, improves short-term memory, has an invigorating effect and increases physical performance.
How much caffeine is "alrighty"?
Generally speaking, the effect of caffeine varies from person to person. The European Food Safety Authority states that single doses of up to 200 mg of caffeine and a total daily caffeine intake of up to 400 mg per day are safe for healthy adults. For pregnant and breastfeeding women, a value of 200 mg of caffeine daily is considered safe, which is also confirmed by the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
So far so good. But what does that mean
for your coffee consumption?
A cup of coffee (150ml) contains approx. 50-100ml of caffeine, depending on the preparation method. According to simple math, this means that 4 cups of coffee (=max. 400mg caffeine) per day are safe for an average adult. We think that's pretty alrighty to start with.
You can do without it, too. (Caffeine, not coffee!)
Of course, there are still times when we want to avoid caffeine. For health reasons, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or before going to bed. Or just because.
But that doesn't mean we have to do without good coffee.
Because a good decaf has everything that makes a good coffee – only the caffeine content is reduced to 0.1%. A cup of decaffeinated coffee then contains a maximum of only 3mg of caffeine.
Fun fact: A bar of semi-sweet chocolate even has 25 times as much caffeine as a cup of decaf!
Full flavor: It's all about the bean.
Contrary to popular belief, decaffeination really only removes the caffeine from the bean - especially with gentle processes.
For our Free Decaf, we only use high-quality Arabica beans from the highlands of Colombia with a top taste.
And a gentle process with natural solvents without artificial additives. The result: a full-bodied, aromatic coffee taste, as with all ALRIGHTY varieties. Just without caffeine. Promise.
The process: Natural and gentle.
Our decaf is decaffeinated directly in Colombia using a natural process: with molasses from sugar cane. The naturally occurring ethyl acetate in it has a high dissolving power for caffeine and a low dissolving power for other ingredients.
This is good in two ways: the beans are gently decaffeinated, the aromas of the Arabica remain in the bean, and value is added in the country of origin. We think that's pretty ALRIGHTY.
