Espresso

Chocolate first. Lime finish.

Our Espresso El Girasol is a single origin espresso from Colombia for those who like it balanced, sweet and uncomplicated. You can expect notes of caramel, dark chocolate and a delicate lime, supported by a full body and a pleasant sweetness.

The medium espresso roast preserves the coffee's character while also providing a lot of balance in the cup. Equally convincing on its own as an espresso or as a cappuccino, flat white or americano. Roasted for portafilters, fully automatic machines and stovetop espresso makers.

We believe in real change – not empty labels. With our Caretrade philosophy, we focus on fair opportunities, direct trade, and responsibility from origin to cup.

Our beans come exclusively from the underdogs of the coffee world: young, female, or from Africa – people who are often overlooked but deliver more than expected.

Together with Jane Goodall, we support projects for education, environmental protection, and empowerment in Africa. And for the climate? Every emitted ton of CO₂ is offset through reforestation – with our partner Menschen für Menschen.

El Girasol | Colombia

Finca El Girasol is located at an altitude of 1,750m above sea level and is 90% cultivated with coffee, bananas, citrus fruits, avocados and native trees. Robinson Ortiz is a third-generation coffee farmer. El Girasol has belonged to Robinson for 10 years. Since then, he has been involved in the production of specialty coffee and has been determined to perfect it. Robinson's parents and grandparents were also coffee farmers and produced simple "washed coffee". Robinson's semi-washed coffee is harvested, washed and floated in the cherry, then hand-sorted and then fermented for 36 hours in sealed cans. After this time, the coffee is de-pulped and then washed once. Drying takes place with direct sunlight in a so-called "Elba" (a coffee dryer made of low-lying wooden beds and covered with a zinc roof). After fermentation, the cherries are hand-sorted again. Robinson is currently working on standardizing his processes and bringing his great coffees to the world.

Select a program with a longer extraction time to emphasize the complex aromas.
Use a higher brewing temperature and slightly extend the brewing time.
Allow the water to rise slowly – heating too quickly can emphasize acidity.
