Quindio | La Cristalina
In the highlands of Colombia at an altitude of 1,450m lies the 19-hectare farm La Cristalina, with over 100 years of family tradition. Guillermo Grajales left the farm to his sons Alberto and German. Today, Maria Grajales is the fifth generation of coffee farmers on this farm. Maria is a true powerhouse; from 2015 onwards, she introduced various processing techniques such as "Naturals": in this method, the coffee beans are first dried in the sun and then separated from the pulp, allowing the beans to absorb the sweetness and flavour of the entire fruit. On La Cristalina, the main crop is coffee, but banana and orange trees can also be found on site. In recent years, the cultivation of various cocoa varieties has begun to secure future income in view of the expected climate change.
What makes this espresso special: we decaffeinate this coffee at its origin using locally grown sugarcane. This makes enjoying coffee without caffeine an experience with double the impact. Alrighty then.
Tipps zur Zubereitung
La Cristalina's DECAF ESPRESSO ROAST is roasted to suit all espresso preparation methods. We recommend it for use in fully automatic machines, portafilter machines, and stovetop espresso makers. Ideal as an espresso, Americano, cappuccino, flat white, or latte macchiato. As with all brewing methods, the grind size should be adjusted to your chosen machine and matched to the extraction time. This is particularly important for decaffeinated beans to achieve the perfect taste experience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!
